Combine Tromsø – the capital of the Arctic – with the lesser-known island of Senja and the Lofoten Islands! This 7-day tour will take you through charming villages off the beaten track, with a backdrop of dramatic cliffs and crystal-clear bays. Whether you want an active holiday or simply to relax on the white sandy beaches, this tour offers something for everyone.
Arrival in Tromsø according to your own itinerary. Tromsø, located in northern Norway, is the world’s northernmost university town and the largest Nordic city above the Arctic Circle. The city lies between the sharp craggy peaks of the Lyngen Alps and combines wild scenery with urban life. Tromsø is known as the “Paris of the North” and the “Gateway to the Arctic” for good reason. Accommodation in Tromsø.
Breakfast at the hotel. This day is at your own leisure to explore the city of Tromsø. We recommend a trip with the Fjellheisen gondola lift to Mount Storsteinen. At 420 metres above sea level, you will have an excellent view of the city and the surrounding area. We also recommend a visit to the Arctic Cathedral, the Polar Museum, Polaria Arctic Aquarium and Mack Brewery. Alternatively, why not check out what Tromsø is most known for? Huskies! Tromsø now offers year-round husky activities including husky hikes during the summer months. Accommodation in Tromsø.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will travel from Tromsø to Senja. Departure from Tromsø city centre after breakfast with early afternoon arrival in Senja.
The bus tour will take you by several famous landmarks, including the Sommarøy Bridge, Botnhamn village, Ersfjord Beach and Skaland village. At each location you will have a short photo stop (approximately 15 minutes). The bus ride also includes a short ferry ride where you can stretch your legs and breathe in the fresh Arctic air. The bus is a specially made tourist bus with a digital storytelling app which guides you along the entire route.
Senja, also known as Sážžá in Northern Sami is an island in Senja Municipality in Troms county. With an area of 1,586 square kilometres, it is the second largest island in Norway (excluding Svalbard). The geology is vast with a wild and mountainous outer side facing the Atlantic, compared to a more mild climate that makes up the eastern part of Senja. Due to this, it has a wide variety of activities such as hiking, kayaking, viewpoints, fjord safaris and bird watching. The afternoon is at your own leisure. Accommodation in a studio room (category silver) or suite (category gold) at Hamn i Senja on Senja island.
Breakfast at the hotel. This day is at your own leisure to enjoy the peaceful and beautiful surroundings of Skaland. The village of Skaland is located on the shores of the Bergsfjord on the northwest side of Senja. It is known as the connecting point between the northern and southern Arctic. To finish off the day, why not rent a bike and head to Ballesvik strand, only 20 minutes by bike from the hotel for a memorable sunset (or to experience the midnight sun during summer). Accommodation in a studio room (category silver) or suite (category gold) at Hamn i Senja on Senja island.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you have the morning at leisure before you depart by bus from Senja in the early afternooon with arrival in Svolvær late at nighttime. Today, the bus will continue along the Arctic Route to Svolvær past several viewpoints, including the villages of Gryllefjord, Andenes, Stokmarknes and Fiskebøl.
Todays bus ride is the same tourist bus as on the previous day with several photo opportunities along the way. The bus ride also includes two ferry crossings. The first ferry crossing between Gryllefjord and Andenes is approximately 1hour 45 minutes. While the second ferry crossing from Melbu to Fiskebøl is only 30 minutes.
Andenes in Vesterålen is home to whale watching and we strongly recommend adding one to two nights if time allows. There is also a world famous museum in the making - The Whale - due to open in June 2027.
We recommend packing dinner to eat along the way. Accommodation in Svolvær.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you have the day at leisure to explore Svolvær, the heart of the Lofoten Islands. Svolvær offers a variety of activities for all individuals – whether you prefer museums, culture, shopping or outdoor adventures. Would you like to go on a photo hunt for white-tailed eagles? Try your luck on a silent cruise along Lofoten’s majestic Trollfjord on a hybrid electric boat designed to glide effortlessly and quietly through eagle territory. End the day with a nice beer from Svolvær’s very own brewery. Accommodation in Svolvær.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Svolvær according to your own itinerary. You can either fly from Svolvær via Bodø to Oslo or take a direct flight from Harstad-Narvik Airport Evenes (possibility to add a night in Harstad). There is also a public bus that connects Svolvær with Narvik and Tromsø. Alternatively, it is possible to take the bus to Narvik and a night train onwards to Stockholm.
Or would you perhaps like to extend your stay on the Lofoten Islands by travelling further south to Reine and Å? Take a look at our tour Lofoten Summer Adventure.
