Stay at the famous Ice Hotel in Swedish Lapland and explore the Northern Lights during the dark arctic nights. This tour includes a dog sledding excursion and an evening visit at the Aurora Sky Station in Abisko – one of the best places in the world for experiencing this cosmic light show.
Arrival in Kiruna according to your own itinerary. Transfer from the airport or train station in Kiruna to the Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi.
The Ice Hotel is Scandinavia's original, as well as largest ice hotel in the world. Each year the ice hotel is built from ice from the Torne River, and artists from all over the world gather in the small village of Jukkasjärvi to create the Ice Hotel and all its art made of snow and ice. The interior is always between -5°C to -8°C, even when it gets up to -37°C outside.
The seasonal Ice Hotel normally opens in Mid-December and some building work will continue into early January where guests can watch the creation of this masterpiece.
In 2016 however the Ice Hotel introduced Icehotel 365, located next to the Ice Hotel. It has the same standard, same interior shape and visual design as the original Ice Hotel, but is a permanent structure.
Today we recommend joining one of the optional winter activities, including ice sculpting and snowmobile tours or rent your own cross country skies or snowshoeing equipment and head off on your own.
In the evening, guests can dine at the Ice Hotel Restaurant, or at the authentic and charming Old Homestead Restaurant. There are also several optional Northern Lights tours on offer in the evening.
Accommodation at the Ice Hotel, in rooms furnished with furniture made from ice and snow. You will sleep in a thermal sleeping bag on comfortable reindeer skins in a special bed built of snow and ice.
In the morning you will wake up to a cup of hot lingonberry juice before warming up in the sauna. Breakfast will be served at the restaurant, before you will depart for a 1,5 hour dog sledding tour in a comfortable sled pulled by 12 friendly huskies through magical winter landscape of snow-clad forests and frozen lakes. Simply sit back and relax, take in the surroundings, and feel the dogs tremendous desire to run and pull. During the tour, there will be a stop for wilderness coffee and cake served by an open fire. On the tour you are travelling as a passenger and it is not possible to drive your own team of huskies. This activity is perfect for families travelling with children or travellers who want a calm and cozy dog sledding tour in Swedish Lapland.
This afternoon is at your own leisure to explore the area. Or perhaps you would like to join an excursion to meet the reindeer.

Even when fog covers other parts of Lapland. Abisko is one of the greatest places in the world to see the Northern Lights according to Lonely Planet.
